gROOMING YOUR aUSTRALIAN cOBBERDOG TO LOOK LIKE A cOBBERDOG BUT WITH LITTLE COAT TO CARE FOR
UNDER RE CONSTRUCTION MORE PHOTOS COMING
THINGS YOU WILL NEED
FIVE MONTHS TO ADULT HOOD
Always brush from the bottom up in layers, many people get in a big matted pickle because they brush the top and not the layers underneath Always comb after brushing to be sure you have not missed a tangle, Cow Boy Magic detangler concentrate is wonderful At around 9 months of age your dog will change from puppy coat to adult, they do not shed so they tangle EVERY day like crazy so groom daily until those knots stop happening usually about 6 weeks then a good weekly brush and comb is all you need to keep your dog looking sensational Clipper blade size for the topline I use a 19mm you can use a clip on comb equivalent For under the belly, groin, elbows, ears, throught, jaw I use a 10 or a 15 size blade. Thinning scissors are perfect for thinning down the legs, Chunkers look like thinning scissors but they will cut like regular scissors without leavening a untidy cut edge, they are fantastic to shorten the coat without electric clippers make sure you get 7inch long or longer anything less is just too small Chunker scissors cut without leaving ugly straight cut edges each cut blends

Thinning scissors these are the next step down from chunkers and will thin out thick legs making them manageable to brush and comb.
The more teeth a pair of thinning scissors have the less they cut |
Grooming, have a look below to see how to clip her so that she still looks like a stunning flowing coat but so very easy to care for and a trim will get rid of her old dry coat
The biggest problem I find is you must not scrubadub when shampooing you must stroke and massage the shampoo through in the direction of the growth and the same with the towel NO rubbing
When you groom her with a Le Pooch double head brush [or similar they are the BEST] you need to brush down in layers starting from the bottom of the section you are doing until you get to the top layer THEN you must firmly run a comb down that section to be sure you have not missed snags close to the skin
Buy some Cowboy Magic detangler [on line] very expensive but lasts a long time, it is amazing.
after washing but still damp [moist not dripping] put a wall nut size drop on your hand rub hands together and starting from the hind toes pat it through her coat, hind legs, bottom and tail YES then you RUB it in
Then a little less amount and do her middle section then another wall nut amount and start from her front toes all over her front hale of the body
She can then dry naturally or blow dry all her knots will tease out REALLY easily, Of course you will use less for a miniature or a puppy.
If you shampoo her more than once a month it will strip her natural skin and hair oils and make her dry If you need to wash her regularly shampoo her one time and the next time just rinse her with leave in condition towel dry, magic and blowdry, too much shampoo is what dry’s the coat
If you get a REALLY bad knot you are unsure how to get out you can use scissors by sliding them LENGTH [not across] ways and cut a few times until you have a row of narrow matts then you can tease them out and hardly see any hair loss, thinning scissors are helpful too.
